A mental technician is a professional who provides support to mental healthcare clients in hospitals, private institutions or patient residences. They observe and report information about patient behavior to the doctor, including mood swings and the wellbeing of their patients.
Responsibilities:
- Track any behavioral changes in patients that may be of use to healthcare providers
- Chart patient observations following prescribed procedures and standards
- Participate in the development and implementation of patient treatment programs
- Transport patients to and from appointments, clinics, laboratories, and/or treatments as needed
- Perform initial patient evaluations to determine treatment priorities, such as taking vital signs and weight.
Qualifications:
- 21 years or older
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Proven work experience as a Mental Health Technician or similar role
- Ability to remain professional and respectful when assisting stressed patients
- Ability to work flexible hours
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be beneficial
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Mental Health Technician
- Veteran or Military Connected preferred but not mandatory
